Ampeg questions...

Ampeg Guitar and Bass amps... Hello,

My name is Jeremy Horning, I am a manager at Guitar Center . In our stock we have a few v412 cabinets. I have not been able to find any specs on these cabinets any where, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get some. Secondly, I'm currently running a Svt4-pro and a Svt610hlf. I tried running a Svt4-pro thru the v412ta angled cab, for a different tone. To my shock it didn't bottom out and had a very nice mid/high mid tone to it. I know Geezer Buttler has been running 4x12s along with 8x10s for a long time, but my only concern is if the speakers will be able to handle the bass frequencies or would I need to put new speakers in the cab so it would be able to withstand being used as part of a bass rig. Any thing you could offer to help out would be great. Thanks for your time.

Jeremy,

Dana here from Ampeg. If the 4x12's you are talking about are Ampeg then they are a proprietary product made by Ampeg for GC only. They are now discontinued. They are 200 Watt 16 ohm cab.s. If you run one side of your 4pro to the 4x12's and the other to the 6x10's separately. You might not need to replace the speakers. There won't be much more than 150 watts @ 16 ohms going to the 4x12's. There will be about 375 going to the 6x10's @ 4ohms. Keep in mind that you must run the power amp in the stereo mode. Use 1/4" to 1/4" male spk. cables. One cab from channel A and one from Channel B. Those 12's will distort before they blow so if they sound OK then go for it. Dana
